J.Phlip has been on a wild ride ever since she snagged a pair of belt-drives for $100 at age 19, and while her first break came with a 2005 DJ competition win that led her on a US tour + WMC / Ultra Miami, she’s never been one to play by the rules. From a hometown stint in Champaign, IL to a head-first plunge into Chicago’s house scene and finally landing among a quirky crew of misfits in San Francisco—where laughter and chaos go hand in hand—Jess officially signed & joined Dirtybird in 2008 as one of their core mavericks. Known for rejecting formulaic dance trends and risking it all every set, she’s not only dropped bangers like Coefficient and Say My Name that have rocked dance floors worldwide, but also helped boost talents like Eats Everything with her knack for connecting the right dots. Despite years of touring, gig hustling, and bedroom beat experiments, she’s still the underdog determined to keep the spirit of real, raw music alive.
